Banking Hours

Banks, and most corporations, are open from Monday to Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (some close from 2:00 – 4:00 but, more and more, banks are open all day). Sometimes banks offer extended hours – evening and weekend hours. The last day of the month, most banks are closed. Banks are closed during Federal holidays. And there are lots.

Money Exchange houses: Monday to Friday 9: 00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 m.

ATM Machines: This is an excellent option for travelers, as they’re open 24 hours/day, and the Exchange rate is virtually the same. It’s also possible to take money out in English. Ask your bank, though, about fees incurred by using foreign tellers.
Be careful to use “public” tellers, ones located on busy streets and in malls. It’s important to be safe, above all. Many stores, also, use debit cards as credit cards. Some tellers allow withdrawals using Cirrus, Visa and Master Card.

Debit cards: Most big stores, supermarkets, and superstores accept debit cards as well as restaurants and hotels
