Cartagena Environment

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul. (John Muir)

It’s tough to find a healthy balance between tourism and maintaining Cartagena’s nature reserves free of pollution. Cartagena thrives because of tourism, and as travelers we have a responsibility to respect the places we visit. The EPA (The Environmental Protection Agency) http://www.epacartagena.gov.co/index.php/en/ is constantly working to educate tourists, citizens, and keep Cartagena clean and free of littering, air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution.

Their latest achievements include liberating caged fauna from local hotels, educating citizens about conservation, stimulating tree-planting committees with educational institutes among others. “Take nothing but memories; leave nothing but footprints.” Help maintain Cartagena as the cultural and ecological jewel it is.
