Mall Plaza el Castillo: Two words: air conditioning. A modern structure, this mall is a great place to cool off and shop, have a coffee, and cool off. Free wi-fi, a Mac store, and many upscale brands, it’s popular with both people from Cartagena and tourists.

Las Bovedas: The artesans and craftsmen sell their products in las bovedas, specialized shops located in the walled city and Bocagrande.

Antiques: Cartagena boasts many antique and pawn shops, most located in the Center or San Diego.

Jewelry: Colombia is the home of the emerald. In fact 55% of the world’s emeralds come from Colombia. Many travelers get green fever. Though there is a lot of controversy about emerald mining and the conditions of workers, Cartagena has several jewelry stores to satisfy everyone’s green fever. When purchasing an emerald, make sure you get it certified by the store.
